LLRFF is supporting Micro-Projects in Rwanda
Until today there are after-effects of the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, both with survivors, perpetrators and also their children and grandchildren. Often it takes only a very small amount of funds to “kick-start” their affairs and get them out of the vicious cycle of despair and poverty.
The Foundation has launched the first 5 micro projects by providing the following to families in the country:
Project A:
Field rent and agricultural equipment
Pig farming
Goat farming
Food
Project B:
House repair
Second hand clothing store business
Food
Project C:
Agricultural equipment
Field purchase
Food and house rent for a few months
Project D:
Food stuff business started
House repair and new latrine
Food
Project E:
Chicken trading
Rabbit Breeding
Food and house rent for some months
All recipients had some immediate need for food and showed signs for malnutrition. The second immediate need was housing support. Thirdly, all recipients were provided with the necessary means to start or restart a sustainable small business most often on a bought or rented agricultural plot or a small store for local needs.
All funds were directly provided to the projects without any cost for intermediaries or NGOs. The current results are very promising and the project will be expanded gradually on a small easily manageable scale.
